THE BASICS

WHO SHOULD ATTEND THE CONVENING?

This convening is for participants of the Midwest Credential Transparency Alliance (MCTA). The MCTA is made up of individuals representing postsecondary education providers, state agencies, secondary education providers, employers, quality assurance organizations, workforce development agencies, and more. 

HOW DO I KNOW IF I AM A MCTA PARTICPANT?

You have participated in a past MCTA meeting, receive messages from the MCTA list server, or have received a personal invite to the convening. 

WHERE IS THE CONVENING?

The convening will take place in-person at the Big Ten Conference Center (15440 Park Place, Rosemont, IL 60018).

WHEN IS THE CONVENING?

The convening will begin with lunch at Noon, with the meeting starting at 1:30 p.m. CT on Monday, October 10, and concludes at noon on Tuesday, October 11. View the agenda for the full details. 

HOW MUCH DOES THE CONVENING COST?

There are NO fees to attend the convening. A maximum of one night hotel (Monday), per person, will also be covered for invited participants. Should your circumstance require additional nights, please contact MHEC for approval. All attendees are responsible for booking their own hotel.

WHEN DO I NEED TO REGISTER?

The registration deadline is Thursday, September 15, for in-person participants and Friday, October 7, for virtual participants.

ARE THERE ANY FEES TO REGISTER?

There are NO registration fees to attend this convening.

IS THERE A VIRTUAL OPTION TO ATTEND?

Yes, we are offering a virtual option. 

HOW DO I REGISTER IF I AM A VIRTAUL PARTICIPANT?

Please click the register link located at the top of the page. Select "Virtual Participant" when registering. 

WHO CAN ATTEND AS A VIRTUAL PARTICIPANT?

Anyone!

WHAT VIRTUAL PLATFORM WILL BE USED?

The sessions will be hosted via Zoom. 

HOTEL

HOW DO I BOOK MY HOTEL ROOM?

If you need a hotel room, you will be required to book your own room. A booking link is available on the Hotel and Travel page, at the end of the registration, or within your registration confirmation email. 

CAN I CALL THE HOTEL TO RESERVE A ROOM, OR DO I HAVE TO USE THE BOOKING LINK?

Yes, you can definitely call the hotel to reserve a room. Call (847) 671-4444 and ask for the Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC) rate.

WILL THERE BE INTERNET IN MY GUESTROOM?

Yes! You will receive complimentary internet within your guest room when booking the MHEC group rate. 

I NEED TO CANCEL MY HOTEL ROOM, WHAT DO I DO?

You are required to cancel your own hotel room. The hotel has a cancellation policy of 72 hours prior to check in date. To cancel  your room, either follow the link within your hotel confirmation email or call the hotel directly at (847) 671-4444. MHEC is not responsible for any cancellation or no-show charges and will charge accordingly. View the Cancellation Policy for more details. 

WHEN IS THE DEADLINE TO RESERVE MY ROOM?

All reservations  need to be made no later than Friday, September 16, 2022.

WHAT IF I MISS THE CUTOFF DATE TO RESERVE A ROOM?

Please contact Katie Chock at (612) 677-2760 or katiec@mhec.org to check the availability of the group rate.

WHAT ARE THE ROOM COSTS?

MHEC will cover the hotel costs for invited participants with a maximum one-night stay per person (Monday). This includes the overnight room rate, plus any applicable self-parking charges and taxes. Should your circumstance require additional nights, please contact MHEC for approval. You will still be required to provide a credit card to confirm your hotel, however, your credit card will not be charged.   

MEETING GUIDELINES

ARE YOU FOLLOWING CDC GUIDELINES?

Yes, we are following the CDC guidelines throughout the meeting as much as we are able to. Please see our meeting guidelines for the full details. 

ARE MASKS REQUIRED?

The CDC recommends that both up to date and NOT up to date individuals wear masks indoors in public in areas where the COVID-19 Community Level is high. Rosemont, Illinois IS NOT currently an area of high transmission. Masks are not required at this time.

AM I REQUIRED TO BE VACCINATED TO ATTEND?

No, not at this time. 

WILL SOCIAL DISTANCED SEATING BE IN PLACE?

We will provide as much spacing as we are able to for both the meetings and meals, however, it will not be a full six feet of distance.

OTHER

WHAT IS THE ATTIRE FOR THIS CONFERENCE?

The conference attire is business casual. Remember to pack appropriately to accommodate for temperature fluctuations in the meeting room. 

DO YOU OFFER TRAVEL GRANTS?

Yes! We have a small amount of funds set aside to assist those from Midwest public and private not-for-profit postsecondary and secondary education institutions, state higher executive offices (or the equivalent), state workforce development agencies, and other not-for-profit organizations wishing to attend the first MCTA regional convening in person.
