The Board of Regents, State of Iowa, is a group of nine citizens who govern five public educational institutions in the state through policymaking, coordination, and oversight, as provided by law.
The institutions include Iowa's three public universities – the University of Iowa, Iowa State University, and the University of Northern Iowa; and two special preschool/K-12th grade schools – the Iowa School for the Deaf and the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School.

Through leadership and service to the state education system, the Iowa Department of Education works to ensure all students are ready for college and career training and receive the postsecondary support they need to succeed. The Department provides oversight to the state education system that includes public elementary and secondary schools, nonpublic schools that receive state accreditation, area education agencies, community colleges, and teacher preparation programs.

IACCT is a nonprofit corporation organized exclusively for the purpose of promoting social welfare by strengthening, developing and correlating the work of its Members (the Community College Boards) and promoting civic betterment and social improvements allowed by law. In carrying out its Purpose, the Association respects the need to preserve the unique communities and business partners of each Community College and within that framework helps them join together to utilize the strength of the group.

The Iowa Community College Online Consortium (ICCOC) is the framework that allows our partner community colleges to share online courses. This allows students enrolled at each of our partner colleges to have access to a larger variety of online courses and programs.
